INFORMATION ABOUT COSTA RICA

 

Costa Rica is only the size of West Virginia, but it is one of the most bio-diverse regions in the world. It is a land of volcanoes, rain forests, waterfalls, mountains, valleys, and rivers. Costa Rica is often called the "Jewel of Central America" and one only has to visit to understand why. There is a long Pacific shoreline on the west side, and a similar shoreline on the east or Caribbean side and both offer boating, fishing, snorkeling, surfing, and more.

Costa Rica has some 20 natural parks, 8 biological reserves, and many protected areas for eco-tourism lovers. There are many tours to these places where you can indulge in hiking, zipline, rafting, kayaking, and other adventures. The most active volcano in Costa Rica is Arenal, which is the seventh most active in the world, Poas and other active volcanos offer very exciting views also.

The people of Costa Rica readily accept foreigners into their culture, and are known for their love of peace and democracy. Costa Rica has been democratic for some 60 years, and many foreigners own property and are retired here.
